Reliability issues? Anything else I should know?
It’s probably going to be between a GMT 700 or 800 Silverado/Sierra or maybe a wild card like one of these.

Uber reliable. I want one of these too. They hold value crazy well though. I have no use for a truck but I want a TRD tundra crew cab short bed so bad. The interiors on these are huge.

Our 2014 Sequoia has around 33,000 miles and no issues, never gave us any.
Though that’s not really a lot of miles by any means, but it should be pretty comfortable. The downside is they are not as fuel efficient as their competitors, but it is not significantly lower.

My aunt has had two Sequoias with around 200,000 miles between the two of them with no real issues.
But yeah fuel economy is scary.

Bulletproof, but thirsty. Also, Toyota sells a supercharger kit for these. It’s good for just over 500hp.

I get 100-120 miles more a tank in my Ram than the Sequoia. Granted it has a slightly larger gas tank but it is definitely more fuel efficient.

I took my cousin’s 12 year old daughter around the other day in our Sequoia and she sat in the front seat. “I feel so small in this thing.” I told her “Yeah, we’re sitting miles apart from each other that’s why.”

They drink a lot of gas. That is basically the only thing wrong with them. That one does have a lot of miles, so who knows though. I would definitely prefer one of these to a GMT800.

Well one did hit 1 million miles on the original engine and trans. But hope you like paying for gas.

Although, 1 or 2 mpg is a lot more than it sounds, when you’re at these low figures. (Better to do the math in gallons per 100 mi.)

This is more replying to all of your used truck posts. The market is stupid. How is something with that many miles worth that much? I just wouldn’t.

Well you posted a Toyota with 180,000 miles on it for $12k.

Yup, though that’s the old 4.7 not the new 5.7...still

My dad has one, a few things I can say about it:
Its thirsty, like he gets 13.2 mpg on a good day, he averages 10.6 usually, with a 26 gal tank that has 5 of those on reserve.
Ours is pretty reliable, we have not had to replace anything on it and we have 85,000 miles on it, only tires and oil, the usual things. I have no clue about ones with much higher mileage
It does have one quirk, it hates cold starts, the vehicle that is named after one of the coldest places on the planet will not start below 45 Fahrenheit, this is a common problem. All our other cars have no issue.
It is quite a large truck if you have not seen it yet, compared to other vehicles in its class, I had a hard time reversing the thing until we put a back up cam on it. Also used full sized trucks are way overpriced.
Knowing all of these things, I would go for a medium sized truck like a 2006-2015 tacoma.

Hi
Drove a 2012 base but with the 5.7L and 4x4 for over a year for work loved it.
Then, drove a 2007 (same gen) 4x4 with the 5.7L but this time with the SR5 trim. REALLY loved it.
As far as I know, they have had no flaws since then and are both well over 100k miles.

Toyota trucks are great. I would go for one of these over the GM twins.
Also the engine sounds extremely nice.

The 5.7 does sound really nice.
Toyota V8 engines in general are pretty nice sounding for that matter. A friend of mine has a 4Runner with a 4.7 V8... Sounds really good, lots of intake noise.

I have questions.
You have answers.
Please answer my questions?
1. What made the Tundra a good truck?
2. How sexy does the V8 sound?
3. Maneuverability/visibility? Were there any issues in that department
4. Brakes and steering feel?
My family has bought a shitload of Toyotas over the years, so at least they support a Tundra a bit more than other full-sized trucks.

1. Big, comfortable, powerful, reliable
2. When you put your foot in it, it is VERY satisfying. I wouldn’t own one without the 5.7L though. Go big or go home.
3a. Handles just fine. Handled better than my Tacoma for sure. Never felt in danger or was caught off guard with say black ice.
3b. Visibility is good but you will never see stances cars because the truck is so freaking high. I recommend one of those little round convex mirrors slapped on.
4. Brakes work incredibly well and there is just enough steering feel to not fall asleep.
Other tidbits: I would get 17 mpgs with mostly freeway driving. But that was with largely an empty load and no passengers.

Thanks! The Tundra also seems the most refined out of the trucks that I’m looking into. The GMT 800 interior is just plain ugly, while I quite like how much storage and other cool shit is in the Tundra interior. I’d have to install a reverse camera though.
Anything else worthwhile you think I should know?

If you did get a 2014 or later (facelifted/new gen), it would have a backup camera, but I much prefer the 2007-2013 looks.

I’d probably get something exactly like this one: https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/…
Unlike GM and Dodge trucks, I haven’t actually heard anything about them being unreliable. Even at high mileage. But I’d still like to keep it under 200,000 purchase mileage.
